The last day of September and there was plenty of snow up at Mt Field. I joined Annette and Rod to help run the tow – well – all I did was man the belt hire hut while they and the Ski Patrol members de-iced the tow, ran the motor, stood by for any untoward events and helped people use the ‘nutcracker’ on the tow system. Skiers and Boarders had a fabulous day, although they were almost invisible at times with the conditions during the afternoon. A wild and windy day, the walk up to the tow was a challenge but the walk back down was pure bliss once we passed the first drift (where I almost lost my boot as I sunk thigh deep). Out of the wind the magic of a snow covered track was picture postcard perfect.
